Philodendron verrucosum is a striking tropical plant known for its velvety, heart-shaped leaves that are deep green with a prominent, lighter venation. Native to the rainforests of Central and South America, it thrives in a humid, warm environment, making it a perfect addition to a tropical terrarium or as a houseplant.

This species prefers bright, indirect light and temperatures between 18°C and 29°C (64°F to 84°F). It requires high humidity levels, around 60-80%, to maintain its lush foliage. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Philodendron verrucosum prefers a well-draining, rich potting mix and benefits from regular feedings of a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season.

Propagation is typically done through stem cuttings, and it’s important to ensure that any cuttings have a node for successful rooting. This plant is non-toxic, making it safe for households with pets, but keep an eye out for common pests like spider mites and aphids.
